How to Start a Custom Phone Accessories Business: Manufacturer’s Guide

Trying to squeeze margins out of generic phone cases and cables will cause your business to fall like a pack of cards. But custom phone accessories with your brand will help you stand out.

Customizing your own line could help you eliminate this because you have control over the design and quality of your products.

It is also one of the most accessible and profitable niches within consumer electronics as you can rank as a unique brand with it.

You’d also be able to control customer experience because you get to plan your product specifics to the T—from the protective materials to the packaging unboxing feel.

Another good thing is that you make all the decisions. You are in control unlike wholesaling another brand’s product. With wholesaling, there are restrictions on pricing and design. This is for a product that you cannot even modify or differentiate.

Even big brands are tapping into this. Companies like Casetify and dbrand built empires on this very model. Their custom, unique designs are among the top ranking accessories on Amazon in sales.

Warning: if you want to succeed on the haul, your brand needs to live outside of Amazon. If not, they could bust your bubble at some point. That’s because they can use the marketplace machine much more than you can.

A custom phone accessories business is nice but running it could be complex. You need to be vigilant and have a legal team to make sure that your manufacturer remains honest and that your designs don’t infringe on trademarks.

Nevertheless, if you have searched for phone accessory modifications that have market opportunity and you are a 100% sure that you have a sellable design, then read on.

How To Find Custom Phone Accessories Manufacturers

Finding suppliers that deliver standard, unbranded accessories is not hard. They are on the internet.

However, you wouldn’t get much information in this regard out of Oberlo, AliExpress and other dropship directories or tools for true customization.

You need to search on sites like Google, Thomasnet and Alibaba.

If you know the art of Google-Fu, you’ll be able to surface manufacturers’ information from search results easily.

If you search for “custom phone case manufacturer”, you’ll see a lot of results. Sift through to get what you want. This requires digging and it could involve a lot of trial and error before you get the right one.

ThomasNet
One method I love to use is a suppliers’ directory. Thomasnet is one of them. It is free and you can search for manufacturers by product and location. So you can type in “custom electronics accessories USA” or “phone accessory manufacturer”. The results will show manufacturers’ certifications and the services that they offer.

Alibaba
Another place that you can search for custom manufacturers is Alibaba, not AliExpress. On Alibaba, just input the keyword like “custom logo phone charger manufacturer”. One good thing about Alibaba’s results is that you can see third-party verifications of the supplier and certifications of the company.

With this, you can be certain of what you are getting. There are tons of suppliers here and a good number of them are less expensive because they are based overseas (especially in Shenzhen, China, the electronics hub). One downside to this method is that you may contact a non-native English speaker. The language barrier can be frustrating.

There are also other methods. If you are an Ecommerce CEO member, check out finding suppliers. It is one of the paid courses.

What To Look Out For When Selecting A Manufacturer

Finding a supplier is not enough, you have to know who and what to filter out. I’ll divide the process into three.

Before Contacting The Manufacturers
You may notice some sketchy manufacturers by reading reviews made by verified purchases.

When looking at reviews of those products, you should look out for the way they handle negative feedback. Also, you can take a look at the verifications. This is something I mentioned above about Alibaba.

Another thing to check is their product specialization. Seeing images of the exact custom work that they have done for other brands would help you know if they can execute your specific design for cases, screen protectors, or chargers.

You don’t want to work with a jack of all trades and master of none.

Also, check out their price. You don’t want to have a unit cost of $8 for a custom case, when the premium market price is $25. Shop around and compare with other suppliers.

If you can see their minimum order quantity (MOQ), that’s also glorious. Custom work often has higher MOQs.

You should also find out about shipping.

  • What will it cost to ship in bulk?

  • Will you save on shipping in bulk overseas?

  • Do they even ship to your country of residence?

  • What is the turnaround time on a custom order?

Another thing that you need to do before making contact is to have a business license and bank account. If you use your personal details, you may not be taken seriously by good suppliers and could fall into the hands of sketchy ones. This also stands for the suppliers. When you contact them, ensure that you are given a verified business name, bank account, licenses, and certifications.

During Initial Contact
When you have gathered all that information, reach out to your potential suppliers to confirm if the information you have gathered is accurate. Then you need to verify if they do true custom manufacturing (your unique design from scratch), private label (their existing designs with your logo), or both. Some suppliers use ‘custom’ on their website but only offer simple logo printing.

You also need to take care of inventory and fulfillment. Amazon FBA is a good option if you don’t want to be too stressed out with fulfilling orders. You’ll need to find out how you’d be shipping from their factory to Amazon or your warehouse.

After A Positive Response
When you receive a response from the company confirming all that information and giving you details that align with your expectations, you can request for a prototype or sample.

Since you are creating custom products, samples are non-negotiable. You need to see and feel the quality, color accuracy, and print durability before you commit a bulk order.

Some companies give free samples but shipping from an overseas manufacturer will cost you. It doesn’t make much sense to travel all the way to China to vet the product so you’d have to pay for shipping.

If this is your first go, make sure that your designs are simple and scalable. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel.

Even as you vet the quality, shipping, price and all of that, understand that there are legal risks involved. These risks can come from using licensed characters, brand logos (like Apple’s), or patented technology (like MagSafe). Brands have been sued for this. It is recommended that you use a lawyer and that you educate yourself on intellectual property before you do anything.

In addition, before you rush into working with them, sign on the dotted line. A conversation is not enough. No matter how trustworthy the manufacturer may seem, get a contract down that covers design ownership, quality standards, and delivery schedules. This will prevent future problems.

There are other things you need to ask and look at for that I cannot cram into this blog post, you can check out my premium course for details.

Power and Connectivity on the Go

A dead phone battery is one of the most stressful travel experiences, but it is easily preventable with the right charging solutions. Portable power banks and high-efficiency GaN wall chargers ensure you are never left disconnected, whether you are navigating a new city or waiting for a flight . These modern chargers are smaller, more powerful, and faster than traditional bricks, making them an essential part of your tech kit. Multi-device charging cables further streamline your setup by reducing cord clutter .

Beyond simple power, connectivity is key for modern travel. Downloading offline GPS maps before you depart allows you to navigate confidently even without a cell signal . This independence is invaluable when exploring remote areas or avoiding costly roaming charges. Having a reliable way to keep your smartphone charged and accessible is not just a convenience; it is a critical safety and navigation tool. Investing in robust power and connectivity gear allows you to stay present and focused on your travel experiences.

Protect Your Most Important Device

Your smartphone is arguably your most important travel companion, holding your tickets, maps, and memories. Therefore, protecting it from the rigors of travel is non-negotiable. Rugged phone cases, engineered from tough materials like polycarbonate and TPU, offer military-grade drop protection against drops, bumps, and scratches, providing ultimate peace of mind . A high-transparency tempered glass screen protector is also essential, shielding the display from cracks while preserving clarity and touch sensitivity.

These protective accessories are a small investment compared to the cost of replacing a damaged phone. They allow you to use your device freely without constantly worrying about accidental damage. With the right case and screen protector, you can confidently capture photos, navigate busy streets, and check your itinerary in any environment. Ensure your travel memories remain safe by keeping your devices well-protected.

Organization for a Stress-Free Journey

A disorganized bag can lead to unnecessary stress, but effective packing solutions can transform your travel experience. Smart organizers and packing cubes maximize luggage space and help maintain order throughout your journey . Accessories with dedicated, padded sleeves for your tablet, phone, and charging cables further simplify the process, making airport security checks faster and easier . Keeping your gear organized means you can find exactly what you need, when you need it.Furthermore, hands-free accessories like adjustable phone lanyards allow you to keep your device accessible without holding it . This is perfect for sightseeing, hiking, or navigating busy transit hubs. By incorporating these organizational tools, you minimize hassle and create a smoother, more enjoyable travel experience. Travel Tech & Accessories are ultimately about simplifying your life, ensuring you can focus on the destination.

Conclusion

Travel Tech & Accessories are the unsung heroes of modern exploration. They ensure we stay powered, organized, and ready for anything. By selecting high-quality items—like those featured on iTrunker.com—you transform your smartphone from a delicate gadget into a robust travel tool. This allows you to travel smarter and enjoy a truly seamless, stress-free journey.

Why a GaN charger is better than traditional silicon charger?

When comparing a GaN charger (gallium nitride) to a traditional silicon charger, the differences come down to physics, efficiency, and design. GaN is a wide-bandgap semiconductor that outperforms silicon in several key areas, making modern GaN chargers smaller, cooler, and more powerful.

1. Higher Efficiency and Less Heat for Gan chrger

Silicon chargers have inherent electrical resistance, which wastes energy as heat. GaN has a lower resistance and can switch at much higher frequencies. This reduces energy loss by up to 40%, meaning more power reaches your device and less is turned into wasted heat. You can safely charge a laptop and phone simultaneously without the brick burning your hand.

2. Smaller and Lighter Form Factor

Because GaN operates at higher switching frequencies, it requires smaller transformers, capacitors, and other bulky components. A 65W GaN charger can be half the size of a traditional 65W silicon charger. For travelers, this means replacing a heavy laptop brick with a pocket-friendly cube that still delivers full-speed charging.

3. Better Power Density

GaN technology enables higher power density – more watts per cubic inch. A silicon charger that tops out at 30W in a certain size can be replaced by a GaN charger delivering 100W in the same footprint. This is why you now see multi-port GaN chargers that can power a MacBook Pro, iPad, and iPhone simultaneously from a single compact unit.

4. Safer and More Durable

Less heat generation means less thermal stress on internal components. GaN chargers run cooler even under full load, extending their lifespan and reducing fire or failure risks. They also maintain stable voltage output, protecting sensitive electronics like laptops and gaming handhelds.

Should You Switch?

Absolutely. For everyday users, a GaN charger offers faster, cooler, and more portable charging. While slightly more expensive upfront, the durability, safety, and convenience make it a superior long-term investment over any new silicon-based charger. As more devices adopt USB-C Power Delivery, GaN is quickly becoming the new standard.

Key takeaway: GaN chargers deliver more power in less space with less waste – a clear win over outdated silicon technology.

For businesses looking to capitalize on this market gap, USB-C to Micro USB cables wholesale is not just a product category—it is a strategic necessity.

At the forefront of this niche is Lider Accessories, a established name in the phone accessories wholesale industry . The Market Reality: Why Micro-USB Still Matters

Before diving into the product details, it is crucial to understand the market landscape. While USB-C is the present and future of connectivity, the shadow of Micro-USB looms large. For nearly a decade, Micro-USB was the mandated charging port for the majority of Android devices and a vast array of other electronics, including Bluetooth speakers, e-readers, digital cameras, power banks, and smart home gadgets .

This history has left a massive installed base of legacy devices that still require Micro-USB connectivity. Throwing away a perfectly functional speaker or an older tablet simply because your new laptop only has USB-C ports is not an option for most consumers. This is where the USB-C to Micro USB cable becomes the essential bridge. It allows users with modern USB-C laptops, chargers, and power banks to continue using their trusted Micro-USB devices without needing to maintain a separate ecosystem of old-school USB-A chargers .

Product Spotlight: Lider Accessories 1.0M Black USB-C to Micro USB Cable

Lider Accessories understands this market dynamic intimately. As a supplier deeply entrenched in the world of USB cables, they offer a solution that combines functionality, durability, and the right specifications for the modern user .

Design and Aesthetics: Professional Black

First impressions matter, even for cables. The Lider Accessories cable comes in a classic, professional Black color. This makes it an ideal choice for corporate environments, tech kits, and retail shelves where a sleek, unobtrusive design is preferred. The black casing tends to hide dust and wear better than lighter colors, ensuring the product looks good even after extended use.

The Sweet Spot: 1.0 Meters (Approx. 3 Feet)

Length is a critical factor in cable usability. At 1.0 meters, this cable hits the perfect balance between portability and practicality.

  • Versatility: It is long enough to comfortably use your phone while it is plugged into a wall socket or a bedside table.

  • Convenience: It is short enough to toss into a laptop bag or backpack without turning into a tangled mess.

  • Practicality: For programming enthusiasts, this length is perfect for connecting development boards like the Raspberry Pi Pico to a laptop, providing enough slack to work comfortably without the clutter of an excessively long cord .

Technical Specifications: Built for Performance

While aesthetics and length are important, what lies beneath the black jacket is what truly defines the cable’s value.

  1. Data Transfer: The cable supports data transfer speeds of up to 480 Mbps. This is the standard for USB 2.0, making it perfectly suitable for syncing documents, backing up photos from a camera, or transferring music playlists .

  2. Power Delivery: Designed to handle a current of up to 3A (subject to the power source and device limitations), this cable ensures that devices charge at their maximum capable speed . While it strictly adheres to the 5V standard for Micro-USB devices, the high amp rating guarantees efficient power delivery.

  3. Reversible Convenience: One of the key benefits of this cable is the USB-C end. Unlike the frustrating, non-reversible nature of standard Micro-USB or USB-A plugs, the USB-C connector is perfectly symmetrical. It plugs in the first time, every time, preventing damage to ports from forced insertions and offering a premium user experience .

Construction and Durability

For wholesale buyers, durability translates directly to customer satisfaction and reduced return rates. While the specific internal construction of Lider’s cable meets industry standards, quality USB-C to Micro USB cables typically feature:

  • Pure Copper Conductors: Ensuring efficient power flow and signal integrity.

  • Shielding: Protection against electromagnetic interference to maintain data integrity.

  • Molded Strain Relief: Reinforced connectors at both ends to withstand the daily stress of bending and pulling, significantly extending the cable’s lifespan .

Conclusion: The Essential Connector for a Transitional World
