USB-C PD charger, it is USB-C Power Delivery charger. What is that?

USB Power Delivery (USB PD) is a protocol specification which supports power delivery up to 100W of power while transmitting data in a single cable. This means that USB protocol can charge and make data transmission at the same. It is designed to be a future charging standard for a wide range of devices, including but not limited to mobile phones, to charge quickly over a USB connection.

Another bonus for USB Power Delivery protocol is, it can optimize power flow across multi peripherals. A battery-packed mobile phone or notebook can draw more power than the phones connected to external power charging source. Headsets will draw less than external HDDs.

USB-C is also called Type-C. It is a new reversible USB connector supporting a number of new standard including USB3.1 Display port and USB power delivery.

USB Type-C ports support up to 5V 3A. If a USB PD is implemented in a USB Type-C port, it can supply up to 100W to the devices depending on the PD specification.

Many of clients ask us the same question about QC chargers – what is the big difference between QC 3.0 and QC 2.0 ? It seems easy to answer –

  1. QC 3.0 is 30% faster than QC 2.0. It would protect the phone battery and make it recycle more times as well.
  2. Intelligent Negotiation Opti voltage will help QC 3.0 to max the power of charging.
  3. QC 2.0 can charge a phone to its 50%. But QC 3.0 could charge a phone from 0% to 80% in 35 minutes. QC3.0 can reduce the loss of power up to 45%.
  4. QC 3.0 is designed to charge the phone max at a high speed. The voltage was designed from 3.6V to 20V. And the currency would go up or down at 200mV as a stage standard. This would help QC 3.0 to charge the phone at max speed and cause less heat and reduce power when charging.
